G.U.S.T. is an acronym for the "Gratuitous Use of Superfluous Technology". It was coined in response to things like flying helicopters, robotic sheep and 18 foot wide rain troughs appearing in MUGSS shows.
It is a name for anything (in any walk of life) where you have completed a simple job with the maximum of technological excess - for example, opening a tin of beans using an industrial welding laser.
